In 2004, Freightliner LLC’s share of the NAFTA Class 6/7 medium-duty market was 31.1%. The company is the second largest producer of Class 6/7 medium-duty vehicles in North America. Freightliner’s Thomas Built Buses’ subsidiary is the leading producer of school buses in North America. The company’s Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation subsidiary is the largest producer of diesel walk-in van chassis and Type A diesel motor home chassis in North America.
Freightliner LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler. Freightliner is part of DaimlerChrysler’s Commercial Vehicles Division.
Under several leading commercial vehicle brands, Freightliner LLC designs, manufactures and markets a wide range of products. The company’s product range includes vehicles for long-haul trucking; local and regional distribution; construction and services; pupil and passenger transportation; and fire and emergency services. The company also builds chassis for motor homes. These products are marketed under the Freightliner, Sterling, Western Star, Freightliner Custom Chassis, Thomas Built Buses or Unimog brands.
